Our Gatwick rescue centre is owned by our founder and volunteers are at our heart.
Rescue Remedies was founded in 2003 rescuing dogs. We have always worked alongside other Rescues. In 2015 Lynne our founder moved into an animal sanctuary due to the owner’s ill health and we ended up taking all the animals on including 27 cats, 23 of them came into local boarding cattery whilst they had the necessary vet care and we found homes for them.
In 2017 Lynne purchased boarding kennels with the cattery on site. Lynne was able to offer help to a few cats and boarded a few when asked. In August 2022, in conversation with friends in a Cat Rescue, it became obvious that the demands in Cat rescue for safe spaces was as dire as it had become in Dog rescue. Lynne offered free boarding for cats in need and gradually with links with Vets and Animal Welfare Officers, and individuals began to help more and more cats.
The cats are homed under Rescue Remedies and the Rescue pays the Vet care and receives the Adoption donations. Rescue Remedies saved 11 cats in the last 5 months of 2022. In 2023 we saved 21, and found 32 homes. Rescue Remedies is very proud to state we rescued 67 cats so far in 24 and have found homes for 46. Hence we needed our own Rescue Remedies Cat Rescue website; we called it rescueremediescatrescue.co.uk!
Here in 2024 and our Cattery is full of 30 cats and we have many Cat Cuddler volunteers coming in from the local community to interrelate with our cats. Our cats have improved in their receptivity to human encounters. Many have had neglectful life and since learned to trust and enjoy human touch. Our cats become welcoming cats, who walk tall and are alert to activities and affection.
All our cats are neutered, chipped, will have commenced vaccination, and provided with care and love while they awaiting their new family, however long that takes. Once rehomed, we provide rescue back up for life.
